The Home and School Association of GE Peters seeks to empower children and families, by connecting our values from home with the Christ-centered environment of our school to attain academic achievement and spiritual growth.
Hello G.E. Peters Families,
I’d like to say thank you to all the parents and staff who took the time to join us on Sunday, September 10, 2017, for the first Home and School Association meeting at G.E. Peters. A representative from Maryland 529 provided valuable information regarding benefits of investing in a college savings plan. For more information, please visit their website.
It was enlightening and engaging as parents provided meaningful comments and suggestions to help improve fundraising efforts, school operations, and school activities. However, our association can never maximize its full potential without the full support of parent participation. Your continued involvement is essential to the advancement of our school and to the development of our children.
Ongoing research shows that family engagement in schools improves student achievement, reduces absenteeism, and restores parents’ confidence in their children’s education. Students with involved parents or other caregivers earn higher grades and test scores, have better social skills, and show improved behavior (National Education Association – NEA).
So, as the school year continues, consider this an open invitation to join in and participate with the Home and School Association here at G.E. Peters. Your contribution of time and treasure is immeasurable.
We look forward to seeing you at our next H&S meeting, Sunday, October 8, 2017.
Blessings in Christ,
B. Fred Stennis
Home and School Association, President
The George E. Peters 1st Annual WALK-A-THON
The Walk-a-Thon will be used to raise money for our very own NEW PLAYGROUND. We are asking each student to come out and walk the 1-mile distance and seek donations from family and friends to sponsor them in their walk. In an effort to help reach our goal, we are asking each student to work toward obtaining a minimum of $300 (12 sponsors @ $25 each).
The walk will begin on the morning of October 22, 2017, and end in celebration with our ANNUAL FALL FESTIVAL, located on school grounds. In addition, we want to give the students a chance to win some awesome prizes that reward them for participating. We have a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner spot along with a class prize given to the students that raise the most money!!!! See the document for more information.
A letter is attached for your children to send out to their family, neighbors, and friends with detailed information on where to send money using a check or PayPal account.
